These public libraries in the city will now be open on Sundays
Briefly

Eleven additional library branches in New York City will offer Sunday services beginning September 7, 2025. This expansion is made possible by a $2 million investment aimed at enhancing weekend library access. This funding complements a $15 million increase in operating support for Brooklyn, New York, and Queens public libraries included in the Fiscal Year 2026 budget. With this initiative, the total number of branches offering Sunday services will exceed 30, improving essential resources and services for New Yorkers.
Libraries are critical infrastructure providing essential services for New Yorkers. I am proud to have secured $2 million in funding in this year's budget to expand 7-day library service to 11 additional branches throughout the city.
The new Sunday hours will begin Sept. 7, 2025, and will bring the citywide total number of branches open on Sundays to more than 30.
