Max George, a member of the boyband The Wanted, shared that he had a pacemaker fitted after heart surgery for a 2:1 block. He described receiving the pacemaker as the best Christmas present, thanking the NHS staff for their care. He noted that the operation lasted around two and a half hours and mentioned having to undergo more tests due to inflamed lymph nodes in his lungs. George expressed gratitude for the support from fans and family, emphasizing how much it meant to him.
George revealed on Instagram, 'Say hello to my little friend! Given the last 10 days, this is the best Christmas present I could've ever wished for. Pacemaker is in.' He shared his gratitude for the extraordinary care he received from the surgeons and nurses, stating that he owed everything to them. Despite his health challenges, George remains optimistic, indicating a desire to rest and then return to full activity.
He reflected on the operation saying, 'The main issue being some of my veins had collapsed where the wires were meant to go.' George also shared a sentimental detail about how the surgeon placed the pacemaker just below his tattoo that commemorates his late bandmate Tom Parker, saying, "So I'm sure it's being looked after.' This personal touch highlights the deep connection he feels towards his bandmate and the journey they've had together.
Max George mentioned, 'On 16 December I said I had a 2:1 block in my heart and would be undergoing heart surgery way quicker than the doctors first thought.' He expressed relief at having the procedure done faster than expected, which had enabled him to receive timely treatment and prevent further health complications. George's outlook on life remains positive, as he is keen to tackle challenges ahead after a period of rest.
