I lost almost everything—parents, career, friends, memory, and even my cat. I was torn apart between hope and failure, said Abdo about his struggles after fleeing Syria.
[I'm] free in a way I never dared to dream of, said Abdo, reflecting on his liberation following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad.
Leaving Syria would also mean leaving my younger brother and ageing parents, but amid the mounting intimidation, I felt I had no choice, recounted Abdo.
