Incident rates of vandalism in Dublin have increased sharply, with the number of incidents tripling over five years. A north inner-city playground has been closed until further notice because of vandalism and anti-social behaviour. Equipment shows extreme damage: plastic tunnels melted and twisted, a swing ripped off and burnt, and discarded glass bottles and a half bicycle litter the site. The destruction has removed safe play space and raised safety and wellbeing concerns for local families. Measures and interventions are being pursued and affected community members are being engaged to try to reverse the trend.
