"When they took down the original building and started to take up the foundation, they found a part of the original sea wall from the 17th century underneath our bay window in the lobby area," said Brandi Carr, the hotel's assistant general manager. "We had it sent off and authenticated. And sure enough, it was a missing piece they had been looking for for a long time. Back then, this area was all a sea wall surrounded by water and the city."
The Palmetto Hotel captures the essence of Charleston through a sophisticated marriage of Southern tradition and contemporary luxury, evident in its classic elegance and vibrant decor.
Its quaint lobby transported me to a world filled with classic Southern elegance while the decor echoed many of the elements of Charleston's rich history, sprinkled with freshness and vibrancy.
