The Indo Daily: The 'rough sex' claim at centre of Budapest trial of South Dublin man accused of murdering US nurse
"American woman Mackenzie Michalski was just 31 at the time of her death, in November 2024. What began as a night out in Budapest, in a well known tourist bar, would end hours later in tragedy. A South County Dublin man who stands accused of her murder continues to plead not guilty. He claims her death was accidental as a result of "sadomasochistic activities", which he says the deceased woman had encouraged."
"The 38-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with the murder of nurse Mackenzie Michalski (31) in the Hungarian capital. He has pleaded not guilty and appeared in court on Friday in Budapest at a pre-trial hearing. He claims the neurosurgery nurse died accidently while they were being intimate in his rented accommodation in the Hungarian capital, having met earlier at a bar."
Mackenzie Michalski, a 31-year-old American nurse, died in Budapest in November 2024 and her body was found concealed in a suitcase on November 5, 2024. A 38-year-old South County Dublin man has been charged with her murder and has pleaded not guilty. The accused says the death was accidental during consensual sadomasochistic sexual activity that the deceased encouraged. He states the neurosurgery nurse died accidentally while they were intimate in his rented accommodation after meeting earlier at a well-known tourist bar. He gave evidence at a pre-trial hearing and had provided an earlier account at a December court hearing.
