The MBTA is implementing plans to reduce the number of C Branch stops in Brookline, enhancing accessibility and reducing travel time for Green Line riders.
The closure of Kent Street and the consolidation of Fairbanks and Brandon Hall into a single station will shave off an estimated 31 seconds for eastbound and 54 seconds for westbound riders.
Accessibility upgrades along Beacon Street will include wider and raised platforms, sloped walkways, improved signage, and pedestrian track repaints to assist riders.
Construction is expected to start in late 2025 or early 2026, with an estimated completion within a year, which may involve temporary station closures.
