The idea came from Sue Levi-Hughes, who said: "I wanted to adapt the Christmas tree to be a beacon of hope in these difficult times."
Messages included: "I want the war in Ukraine to end," "Peace in the Middle East," "Love, peace, compassion and kindness to all races, creeds, colours, genders and all people."
Sue added: "It was great to see the messages that came in from different groups and even better to see how much the children enjoyed creating their own decorations on the night."
Cllr Small said he was "delighted" to be able to help it happen, adding there's been a lot of interest from local people.
