When Sony first released the PlayStation 5, the console came with a paltry 1TB of storage. At the time, it wasn't possible to add more space through the system's SSD expansion slot. Thankfully, that quickly changed with a software update that arrived less than a year later. Now, PS5 users can add up to 8TB of storage, addressing the rapidly increasing size of game installs and storage needs for dedicated gamers.
The PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro can accept internal drives with between 250GB and 8TB of storage capacity. If you already own a PS5, chances are you have a reasonable idea of how much storage you need for your game library. However, for new users, determining the correct storage size for a high-performance gaming experience can be more challenging, especially given the varying sizes of PS5 games.
