Tens of thousands still without broadband or power as repairs could drag into February
Briefly

Storm Éowyn has wreaked havoc on Ireland’s infrastructure, leaving approximately 180,000 homes without electricity and 50,000 customers without broadband. Some areas may face power outages for up to two weeks. Major telecommunication operators have reported the devastation as the worst in living memory, with significant disruptions caused by damaged poles and fibre lines. While 190,000 homes gained restored broadband access, many mobile sites remain impacted, revealing the widespread nature of the damage across the country.
Despite service being restored to more than 700 mobile sites in that same period, around 10% of its mobile sites are currently impacted by power or connectivity issues.
Extensive damage has been sustained to all infrastructure networks across the country,” said a spokesperson for NBI, who noted that the damage was due to local power outages and fibre breaks.
