The facility now spans 5,000 square feet with 45 staff members, essential for integrating multiple law enforcement agencies and advanced technology to combat crime. The center has recorded substantial activity, responding to 30,000 requests from a total of 131,000 statewide last year. Notably, the upgrade aligns with a reported 7% decrease in crime on Long Island, showcasing the effectiveness of enhanced collaborative policing efforts.
This is now the crown jewel. It's the best and brightest. I'm sure that I'll have some competition from the other 10, but there are 11 centers that are set up like this one across the state.
The entire statewide network received nearly 131,000 requests for help last year, with 30,000 of those being handled by the Suffolk County center.
