An avid follower of news from across the water, she vividly remembers the tragic death of Princess Diana in 1997, following a car crash in Parish. When Irish citizens reach the age of 100, they receive the Centenarian Bounty, which is a national award given by the President of Ireland"
Eileen Sinnott was born in 1925 and celebrated her 100th birthday in Wexford with over 90 family and friends from Australia, Portugal and the UK. She is mother to Shane, Siobhan, Colleen, Carmel, Fergus, Victor and Barrie, born between 1961 and 1969. She credits tea for her longevity, saying a pot of tea sorts everything. Her husband died in 2006. She lived through World War II (The Emergency), remembers historical leaders and follows politics closely. She enjoys gardening and maintains scrapbooks of newspaper clippings. She vividly remembers Princess Diana's 1997 death. She received the Centenarian Bounty and a congratulatory letter from President Michael D Higgins.
