Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden won't feature on Saturday night's show after falling ill backstage during filming on the weekend. An ambulance was summoned to Elstree Studios in Borehamwood after Dowden, 34, fell ill and was taken to hospital, though a spokesperson later clarified that the ambulance was just a precaution. Dowden had previously performed a foxtrot to Toploader's 'Dancing In The Moonlight' with her partner JB Gill. The Strictly family has sent her love and wishes for a quick recovery.
In her absence, fellow professional dancer Lauren Oakley has stepped in to partner JB Gill for their couple's choice dance. The show expressed hope that Amy Dowden would be back to dance with Gill next week. Lauren Oakley will train with JB Gill throughout the week, and it has been confirmed that they will continue to rehearse together, adding to the ongoing excitement of the competition despite the unfortunate circumstances surrounding Dowden's health.
