Storm Eowyn: Flights cancelled, schools and creches to stay shut and public transport cancelled as people warned to 'shelter' during red warnings
Briefly

Ryanair has alerted passengers to monitor its website and emails for possible cancellations as Storm Éowyn approaches Ireland, with chief executive Eddie Wilson emphasizing the company's intent to maintain normal operations. He detailed past performance during previous storms, where 95% of flights were managed, suggesting a strategy of operating flights while assessing conditions rather than blanket cancellations. Although some disruptions are expected, Wilson believes travelers will benefit from this approach rather than complete cancellations, urging them to stay informed and prepared for potential changes in their travel plans.
"It's a fast-moving storm. Our people decide whether to cancel flights based on conditions. You're better to plan to operate and cancel if necessary..." said Mr Wilson.
"Watch our website," he urged flyers. "It's inevitable there'll be some cancellations, but to predict that a day out, I don't think would do our passengers any favours."
He warned: "There's going to be some element of disruption, but I think people who can get away on their flights will appreciate that rather than just cancelling wholesale."
