Stephen A. Smith reacted to President Trump's controversial suggestion of U.S. ownership of Gaza, criticizing it as reminiscent of Trump's past as a real estate mogul. He noted the plan to displace Palestinians to Jordan and Egypt was met with widespread outrage, even among Republicans. Smith expressed concern that Trump seemed to treat the situation as a business deal, lacking an understanding of the devastation in Gaza following recent conflicts. He condemned the idea as irresponsible, emphasizing the humanitarian impact and destruction in the region.
It was utterly ridiculous and I'm going to say that right now, plain and simple. Smith then said that while he normally avoids talking about the conflict in the region, Trump's comments changed that.
When I saw this president speak last night as if he was in the process of facilitating a business deal, that is where my antennas went up and I became incredibly alarmed.
Do you understand how the Gaza Strip has been ravaged? Have you seen the footage? It's been reduced to rubble.
To go out there and to say that they should just leave, that doesn't even begin to say irresponsible.
