Spain's parliament voted 178 to 169 to enshrine a total arms embargo on Israel into law. The law permanently bans the sale and export of weapons, defence equipment, dual-use technology, and military products to Israel and also prohibits imports and the transit of goods with potential military use through Spanish ports and airspace. The measure allows exceptions for dual-use defence equipment when application of the ban would harm general national interests. The law also bans advertising of products from illegal colonies in Gaza and the West Bank and formalises restrictions in place since October 2023.
