Briefly

Multiple wildfires in Spain have resulted in at least three fatalities and have devastated approximately 1,150 square kilometers of land. Over 20 major fires are active, worsening under a heatwave with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. Authorities have evacuated thousands of residents, and the military has been deployed to assist the firefighting efforts. Key areas heavily affected include Galicia and other regions such as Castile and Leon. The national weather service has issued extreme fire risk warnings, anticipating continued adverse weather conditions.
At least three people have died because of the fires, which have destroyed an estimated 1,150 square kilometers of forest and vegetation.
The wildfires have been exacerbated by an extended drought and heatwave that has seen temperatures soar to more than 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit).
Spain's national weather service AEMET has issued extreme fire risk warnings for several regions, which will remain in effect until at least Monday.
There are still some challenging days ahead and, unfortunately, the weather is not on our side, according to Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.
