Vilija Blinkeviciute, who heads the Social Democrats, expressed her gratitude, stating, "I am very grateful to the people of Lithuania who were so active today voting for us" and noted the desire for a "completely different government."
Outgoing Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte reflected on the election outcome, saying, "In Lithuania that's the way it is, every election we see the pendulum swinging in one direction or the other," acknowledging the voters' decision.
Analysts indicated there won't be significant changes in foreign policy, noting, "Lithuania is a staunch supporter of the EU and NATO, which remain integral to its strategic posture."
