A small plane with six people onboard crashed southeast of Costa Rica's capital, San Jose, near Pico Blanco mountain, shortly after midday. The status of the passengers remains unknown.
Search and rescue teams successfully located the wreckage on the mountainside, with authorities working to ascertain the condition of the passengers and crew who were onboard.
The aircraft, identified as a Cessna 206 Stationair, had taken off from Tortuguero, a location situated on the northern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, heading toward the capital.
