Declan Kearney MLA condemned the recent installation of sectarian signs in Neillsbrook as an intimidating act aimed at sowing division within the community. He emphasized that this was a concerted effort by a few bigots against local initiatives promoting inclusion and collaboration, especially among sports clubs. Kearney called for a zero-tolerance approach to sectarianism, advocating for community solidarity and a commitment to building a more inclusive society that respects equality and fosters cooperation among diverse groups.
The small number of sectarian bigots responsible for this attack have nothing to offer society. They will not succeed in dividing the people of Randalstown, or in stopping cooperation between our local sports clubs.
It was a deliberate attack against the positive work of local sports clubs which cooperate closely together to promote inclusion and good relations between our different sporting codes and traditions.
