American Airlines is offering a "Winter Deals" promotion, allowing AAdvantage members to earn up to 1,000 bonus miles by spending between $200 to $500 with participating retailers by Jan. 12.
United Airlines' MileagePlus portal has a New Year's bonus deal, rewarding members with 500 bonus points for $150 spent or 1,000 points for $300 or more until Jan. 15.
Many popular retailers, like Home Depot and Lululemon, are part of these shopping portals, offering their own bonuses which significantly add to the miles earned from portal promotions.
Using a shopping portal is an effective method to quickly accumulate miles for future flights, especially when combined with rewards credit cards that provide further bonuses on spending.
