"only verified and registered terminals will be allowed to operate in the country. All others will be disconnected,"
"emphasized that the only technical solution to counter this threat is to introduce a 'whitelist' and authorize all terminals,"
"This is a necessary step by the Government to save Ukrainian lives and protect critical energy infrastructure,"
"Looks like the steps we took to stop the unauthorized use of Starlink by Russia have worked. Let us know if more needs to be done."
Ukraine and SpaceX cooperated to stop Russian drones that were using Starlink connectivity over Ukrainian territory. The Ukraine Ministry of Defense announced a forthcoming requirement for registration and whitelisting of Starlink terminals so that only verified and registered units will be allowed to operate while all others will be disconnected. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said a whitelist is the only technical solution to counter the threat and called the measure necessary to save lives and protect critical energy infrastructure. SpaceX implemented measures after Ukraine contacted the company, and Elon Musk indicated the steps have worked so far.
