Russia needed armor so badly that its biggest film studio donated 36 Soviet-era tanks that were used as props

In 2023, Mosfilm donated 28 T-55 tanks and eight PT-76 tanks to the Russian defense ministry as the Kremlin seeks to bolster its military capabilities amid ongoing conflict.

Mosfilm's director, Karen Shakhnazarov, met with Putin to discuss the studio's profits and revealed their military support, stating: 'I knew that they needed them.'

Putin praised Mosfilm, saying, 'Mosfilm is our pride,' highlighting the studio's image and role within Russian culture, as well as in military support.

While Mosfilm claims its equipment is in good working order, it's unclear if the donated tanks are combat-ready or even applicable for use in Ukraine.
