Row breaks out over Lewisham Council's alleged links to church accused of abuse

The Diocese of Southwark has already expressed regret for its association with the church, raising questions about whether the council will take a similar stance to acknowledge the experiences of survivors amidst ongoing political disagreements.
The council must address the serious allegations against UCKG and validate survivors’ experiences by issuing an apology, as previously done by the Diocese of Southwark.
Mayor Brenda Dacres insisted the council condemned all abuse and claimed they had no direct relationship with UCKG despite a cabinet member’s involvement with the church.
