Robert Eggers to write and direct Labyrinth sequel
Briefly

Robert Eggers, now an Oscar-nominated filmmaker, has closed a deal to write and direct a sequel to the beloved cult classic Labyrinth. Unlike the 1986 original by Jim Henson, this new film will continue the original story with a script co-written by Eggers and collaborator Sjón. Development of a sequel has been ongoing since 2017. With ongoing fan interest, "Jim Henson's Labyrinth: In Concert" will run until May 2025, and Eggers is also working on a horror film called Werwulf.
The upcoming Labyrinth movie will continue the narrative of the original 1986 film, rather than being a remake, emphasizing its cultural legacy.
Eggers will co-write the script with Sjón, adding to the anticipation surrounding the sequel to this beloved cult classic.
