Richmond Library roof fix is back on track, but will take at least 3 more months
Briefly

The Richmond Library in Philadelphia, beloved by families like that of Erin Vanderwoude and her daughter Olivia, has been closed due to ongoing roof replacement and HVAC issues. Families utilize the library for educational purposes and community engagement, particularly through storytime sessions. However, the closure highlights broader challenges faced by Philadelphia's libraries, including staffing shortages and inadequate facilities. The Richmond branch, part of the city's Rebuild program, aims to enhance library services but currently disrupts routine for many users.
"We're able to check out books that had mechanics in them, so she can see what a mechanic does," Vanderwoude said, emphasizing the practical learning experiences from the library.
Vanderwoude expressed her family's commitment, saying, "We go faithfully every week; it’s just been a very consistent thing for almost three years now," showcasing the importance of library services.
