A cold snap has led to warnings of major flooding in New South Wales following snow flurries in Queensland. The NSW State Emergency Service alerted residents in low-lying areas to prepare for flooding, particularly along the Namoi River at Gunnedah and the Hunter region. There were emergency warnings for Raymond Terrace and evacuation preparations for Singleton. The SES has responded to over 2,000 incidents since the severe weather began, including multiple flood rescues. Although a severe weather warning was lifted, riverine rises continued to pose risks as waters moved downstream.
The NSW State Emergency Service warned low-lying residents in the northern tablelands and parts of the Hunter to prepare for flooding.
Major flood emergency warnings were issued along the Namoi River at Gunnedah, with further river rises possible in the Wee Waa and Narrabri areas.
The SES had received more than 3,600 calls and responded to 2,092 incidents, including 25 flood rescues since the onset of the severe weather.
A severe weather warning was cancelled, but riverine rises remained a risk as flood water continued to move downstream.
