Regulator will get new role to hold RTE and TG4 to account
Briefly

The Broadcasting (Amendment) Bill aims to improve accountability by giving Coimisiún na Meán a larger supervisory role, enabling better assessment of broadcasters' performance.
The annual review will now include accountability measures to enhance transparency regarding how RTÉ and TG4 utilize public funding and meet performance targets.
Coimisiún na Meán will no longer rely on RTÉ and TG4 to set their own performance metrics but will conduct independent reviews every three years.
The independence of the Audience Councils will be bolstered, ensuring they operate separately from the broadcasters and the regulator to reflect public opinion more accurately.
