Regional Independents back annual increases to carbon tax as Programme for Government gets green light

Members of the Regional Independent Group (RIG) and the Healy-Rae brothers have significantly opposed carbon taxes, despite supporting the coalition government’s commitment to planned tax increases.

The coalition agreement between Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael, and Independents, aims for a 51% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030, which includes annual tax hikes.
