The RSPB has announced the permanent closure of the cafe and shop at Rainham Marshes on February 2, following significant budget cuts aimed at savings of £12 million. The visitor centre also faces uncertainty, with temporary closures to its upper section planned for reconfiguration. While trails and toilet facilities will remain open, the future operations and management of Rainham Marshes are under review. Local MP Andrew Rosindell expressed concern over the closures and will work with RSPB to support the site.
