Rachel Sennott, promoting her film Bunnylovr at Sundance, highlighted her efforts in securing Charli XCX's track "Detonate" for the movie's soundtrack. Writer-director Katarina Zhu originally envisioned the song as part of the film. After Sennott shared a teaser with Charli, the artist embraced the idea enthusiastically. Bunnylovr follows a New York-based cam-girl who receives a bunny from a client, humorously noting the bunny's extravagant on-set demands. The bunny's presence became a notable part of the production, even consuming a chunk of the budget.
I sent it to Charli. I'm like, if I do anything, there has to be a Charli song," Sennott said, adding that "Detonate" is one of her favorite songs by the singer.
According to Zhu, said bunny required a lot of breaks and arrived on set with a "big entourage" that included people from the Humane Society, animal wranglers, and an agent.
