Pro-Palestinian supporters stage walkout at UC Berkeley, met by counter-protesters
Briefly

"We have a lot of grievances against the university right now, and that's why I walked out," said a tenured UC Berkeley faculty member, expressing deep-seated frustrations.
The faculty member also remarked, "I have been told by multiple administrators that I cannot deviate from any of the subject matter on my syllabus and teach to the moment," indicating concerns over academic freedom.
In a challenging environment, a faculty member stated, "Yes, I do [fear repercussions], because we've been told there would be repercussions," highlighting worries about backlash from the administration.
The UC Berkeley Faculty and Staff for Justice in Palestine expressed hopes that the university would cease investing in military development and defense companies, but faced pushback from administration.
