Prep Spotlight: Why this small, Antioch private school is hungry for a state title
Briefly

Cornerstone Christian School's boys basketball team achieved significant success in 2024, winning league, North Coast Section, and NorCal championships. However, they could not compete at the state level due to a lack of a championship in their current division. With the majority of players returning, the team hopes to move up divisions to compete for a state title. Coach Michael Thomasson and star player Benjamin Lukacs express confidence in their team's growth and capability to compete, having showcased impressive performances against various teams.
It doesn't matter who we go against, because I feel like we're all prepared. We've been through the ups and downs together, and that has made us stronger.
Cornerstone has set out to prove that it deserves to be in a higher bracket in the NCS's first year of flexible, competitive-based divisions, and so far, so good.
By capturing league, North Coast Section and NorCal crowns in 2024, Cornerstone Christian won everything an East Bay boys basketball team could.
I've had these guys for three years, and all they do is continue to get better and better each year, Thomasson said.
