Preconstruction work to begin in January to rebuild collapsed Baltimore bridge
Briefly

Preconstruction work for a new Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore starts in January, involving topographic and underwater surveys, as well as soil sampling.
The bridge, which collapsed in March due to a container ship collision, is set to be rebuilt with an estimated completion date of October 2028.
The rebuilding effort will take nearly four years and is projected to cost around $2 billion, with demolition expected to begin this spring.
The Maryland Transportation Authority awarded the construction contract in August to Kiewit Corporation, based in Omaha, Nebraska.
