Portrait of a Warrior: Andrew Bachelder
Briefly

Andrew Bachelder, a Marine veteran and two-time Warrior Open champion, uses golf as a therapeutic way to assist veterans struggling with the aftermath of military service. After surviving a devastating helicopter crash in 2009, Bachelder faced severe mental health challenges. He attempted suicide, feeling overwhelmed by his struggles. His wife Debi played a crucial role in his recovery. Today, he co-founded the nonprofit Loops Fore Troops, which trains veterans to become caddies, providing support and purpose while engaging in golf, a sport that helps many combat their inner battles.
Bachelder admitted he attempted to take his own life. "At one point, you're like, I'm done with it," Bachelder shared. "That's the story of so many Veterans each day."
Bachelder credits Debi for saving his life, "She's my hero." Bachelder added that he is grateful for having another chance at life.
