PlayStation Network back online, firm says
Briefly

The PlayStation Network faced a multi-hour outage starting Friday night, disrupting access to numerous popular games including Fortnite and Call of Duty. PlayStation confirmed the network's recovery, offering affected members an additional five days of service while not disclosing the cause of the disruption. Users expressed their frustrations on social media, especially given the timing of the outage during key gaming events. The incident highlights the challenges of subscription services for gamers when access to purchased content is hindered by technical issues.
The outage rendered the online aspects of games such as Fortnite, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto and Marvel Rivals inaccessible, and caused issues with license verification of offline single-player games.
Network services have fully recovered from an operational issue. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience.
There is a free beta for a hotly anticipated new game called Monster Hunter Wilds, and also a double XP weekend in Call of Duty Black Ops 6.
Paying a monthly fee for their service is one thing but not being able to play games that we've purchased is something that's beyond frustrating.
