Robert Prussak, a 57-year-old American pilot, was found not guilty of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl outside Harrods in London, following accusations that he approached her after she had become separated from her family.
The court was informed that during the incident, Prussak allegedly led the girl to his flat and provided her with bitter-tasting water that was claimed to contain the antihistamine Benadryl, leaving her drowsy.
Prussak's acquittal at the Isleworth Crown Court on Tuesday concludes a case that drew public attention due to the serious nature of the accusations against him.
The unsettling nature of the allegations and the circumstances around the child's time away from her family highlighted concerns regarding child safety in crowded public spaces.
