During the Senate vetting of Pete Hegseth for Defence Secretary, an affidavit was presented by his former sister-in-law, Danielle Hegseth, alleging domestic abuse towards his second wife. Danielle describes alarming behaviors, including Hegseth's repeated drunkenness and a fear for safety from his wife, which established the necessity of a safe word for emergencies. In response, Hegseth's attorney dismissed the claims as unsubstantiated and politically motivated, asserting that the former wife did not allege abuse. The controversy highlights concerns regarding Hegseth's qualifications to lead the military amidst personal allegations of domestic abuse.
I have chosen to come forward publicly, at significant personal sacrifice, because I am deeply concerned by what Hegseth's confirmation would mean for our military and our country.
Belated claims by Danielle Dietrich, an anti-Trump far left Democrat who is divorced from Mr. Hegseth's brother and never got along with the Hegseth family, do nothing to change that.
