The speaker expresses discontent with the current state of their electoral system, noting a sense of futility in voting amidst perceptions of a declining democratic process. Despite participating in an election they felt crucial, they share frustration about their inability to track their ballot and the general sentiment that voting may not make a difference. The statement reflects broader concerns about democracy, questioning the sincerity of the voting system and suggesting a feeling of disillusionment among voters.
I voted. My GF didn't. I asked why, and she basically responded that if voting mattered, they wouldn't let us do it. As a PA resident who has not been able to track my ballot...I understand why.
Our voting system isn't that democratic, and it has been declining steadily. This is the election I feel mattered the most, but the voting was going to matter the least. I'm glad I did it, but everything that has come out since makes me feel that it really is just a dog and pony show.
