Tourists flocked to NYC's Vessel sculpture, which reopened after safety retrofits meant to reduce suicide risks, showcasing new protective netting throughout its walkable areas.
Andy Rosen, COO of Related Companies, expressed that the changes were aimed at ensuring visitors could still enjoy the experience, stating, 'We wanted people to come here and have fun.'
The transformed statue, once associated with tragedy, now features floor-to-ceiling mesh barriers designed to help visitors enjoy the architecture safely and securely.
Despite the narrowing of views, Rosen mentioned, 'It's a little bit of turning the page,' emphasizing that the interaction with the sculpture remains vital to the experience.
