Democratic Senator Bob Casey conceded his reelection bid to Republican David McCormick after a recount showed no signs of overturning his tiny margin of victory.
Casey's concession leaves the Democrats with 47 Senate seats to the Republicans' 53, marking an upset from the 51-49 advantage they held prior to the election.
The ballot-counting process became intensely scrutinized, with accusations flying from both sides regarding the legitimacy of votes counted and claims of election tampering.
In a statement, Casey expressed that 'Pennsylvanians can move forward with the knowledge that their voices were heard,' highlighting the importance of each vote counted.
