Matthew Huttle, a 42-year-old man previously pardoned by Donald Trump for his role in the 6 January insurrection, was shot and killed by police during a traffic stop on 26 January. Following an altercation with a sheriff's deputy, the incident is under investigation by state police, with the officer placed on administrative leave. Sheriff Patrick Williamson expressed condolences to Huttle's family. Huttle had pled guilty related to the Capitol riots and was on supervised release after serving time. His uncle was also involved and received a lengthier sentence for assaulting an officer.
Our condolences go out to the family of the deceased as any loss of life is traumatic to those that were close to Mr Huttle.
Huttle, along with over 1,500 others, was recently pardoned by Trump for his involvement in the U.S. Capitol riots on 6 January 2021.
