The Florida Panthers canceled their Champions Ring Ceremony due to Hurricane Milton's threat, prioritizing safety and resources for first responders over the event.
"As this event would take resources from first responders and service providers, we have made the tough decision to cancel our Champions Ring Ceremony out of an abundance of caution for the safety of all involved," said Panthers President Matt Caldwell.
Caldwell also noted that the season opener against the Boston Bruins is "scheduled to proceed as intended" despite the weather concerns.
Fans who bought tickets for the ring ceremony will receive a full refund, with proceeds previously intended for charity going to organizations like UNCF and United Way.
