Panic hits pause on the Playdate Stereo Dock, says it's unlikely we'll see it anytime soon

Panic has officially put the Playdate Stereo Dock on hold indefinitely due to unforeseen Bluetooth issues, challenging development hurdles, and escalating costs.

"Making the Stereo Dock was almost more challenging than making the Playdate itself," the Playdate team explains, revealing difficulties with outsourcing design and software.

The Stereo Dock suffered from frequent crashes, poor sound quality, and a frustrating Bluetooth experience, as Panic attempted to resolve multiple bugs with three companies.

Despite having "a number of beautiful finished prototypes," the Stereo Dock ultimately didn't meet quality standards, leading to the decision to pause its development.
