Prof Dorothy Bishop stated her resignation from the Royal Society was a 'gut reaction' to the presence of Elon Musk, which felt 'grubby' and a contradiction of the society's values.
She expressed her discomfort with Musk's fellowship, saying, 'I just started to think... it felt grubby to have him in the Royal Society, such a contradiction of all its values.'
Bishop highlighted her inability to adhere to the Royal Society's code of conduct, asserting, 'I'm not going to be polite and nice to Elon Musk, so I can't keep to the code of conduct.'
In her blogpost, Bishop reflected on her resignation, stating, 'Any pleasure I may take in the distinction of an FRS is diminished by the fact it is shared with someone who appears to be modeling himself on a Bond villain.'
