Over 15,000 people accessed emergency accommodation in November as new record high recorded

Social Democrats TD Rory Hearne stated, "When the previous government was formed in June 2020, there were 8,699 people... As the country went to the polls... there were 15,199 people living in homeless emergency accommodation. Shockingly, 4,658 of these are children... Having thousands of homeless children is incomprehensible and scandalous."

The Dublin Region Homeless Executive's winter report revealed a 14% increase in rough sleeping, indicating a need for substantial intervention, with 134 people found rough sleeping during the first week of November.
