For Cork native Saoirse Fitzgerald, it was turning 30 and the societal pressure of a clock ticking that spurred her to buy a 200-year-old lighthouse keeper's cottage adjacent to Youghal lighthouse in Cork, an important piece of Irish coastal history.
Ironically, hers was the only window in her childhood home just 10 minutes down the road which enjoyed views of the lighthouse, a serendipitous turn of events perhaps.
As kids, we have a wonderful ability to imagine our futures without boundaries; we want to be astronauts, own a pet elephant or live in a lighthouse.
She had attended school directly across the road from the building but never gave it much attention due to its location tucked into the cliff with only the small cottage visible from the road.
