One of the UK's most beautiful scenic roads could soon disappear into the sea

Councillors have warned that Military Road, on the Isle of Wight, could fall into the sea within the next year due to ongoing erosion.

The road, which connects Freshwater Bay and Chale, is named one of the most scenic in the UK but is dangerously close to a cliff edge.

Isle of Wight Council is considering solutions, including rerouting the road away from the cliffs or improving existing routes to accommodate increased traffic.

Concerns about the road’s stability were raised when holes opened up between Chale and Freshwater, prompting discussions about its potential collapse.
