NYC's most delayed subway lines in 2024 revealed: Did the train you hate top the list?
Briefly

Seven subway lines had on-time averages of only 75% or less this year, with B trains performing the worst at just 65.1% on-time. The C, F, and 2 lines were not far behind, averaging on-time percentages of 68.8%, 70.1%, and 70.5%, respectively. The situation overall reflects a troubling trend where commuters are consistently facing delays, particularly those who rely on the B train.
B train rider Natalie expressed her frustration, saying, "I'm not surprised. Whenever I do [take the B train], there's always delays." This sentiment was echoed by another commuter, Bill, who noted waiting up to 20 minutes during peak hours, highlighting the growing discontent among daily subway users about the service they receive.
Despite the overall performance being better than in previous years, with a slight systemwide increase of 1.7% in on-time performance, the conditions for specific lines like the B, C, and others show a decline over the last five years, except for the F train which has improved by nearly 6%. This mixed outcome indicates significant disparities in service quality throughout the MTA network.
NYC Transit President Demetrius Crichlow claimed that 'reliability, on-time performance, and customer satisfaction are at a 12-year high', but data revealing major delays affecting 16 subway routes seems to contradict this optimistic statement, suggesting a disconnect between reported metrics and commuter experiences.
