On Friday, Tromso police in Norway intercepted the vessel Silver Dania in connection with damage to a fiber optic cable under the Baltic Sea. This action followed a court request from Latvian authorities, as the cable, crucial for Latvian state media, had been damaged. The ship, owned and registered in Norway, was sailing with a Russian crew between St. Petersburg and Murmansk. While the shipping company denied involvement, police suspect crew members may be connected to the incident. This marked the second vessel seizure related to the sabotage investigation.
"We have no involvement in this whatsoever," Fossmark told the AP news agency. "We did not have any anchors out or do anything, so that will be confirmed today."
Police lawyer Ronny Joergensen told a press conference that the suspicion was that someone on the Silver Dania was involved with the incident.
